These are just a few of the days humans prophesied as bringing catastrophic events that would end the world. We predicted nuclear warfare. Drastic climate change. A call from God.
We were wrong.
Cue the gargoyle invasion—laboratory bred mutants designed to slaughter humans. When the government goes AWOL and gargoyles are swarming by the hundreds, it's up to the citizens of the United States to regroup and save themselves.
Meet Cliff Matthews, a teenage boy separated from his entire family with the exception of his younger sister, whom he is desperate to keep alive. Along the quest to save their lives, he encounters people who aren't all that they seem. Everyday's a battle, but if he can't trust his own species, where does that leave his family?
And we can't forget the man who may be willing to sacrifice Cliff's life, if it means world domination.
In terms of doomsday, no one could've seen this coming.

The person in the red coat suddenly turned around, walking briskly in Cliff's direction. He waved his hand forward. He was yelling something.
Others behind him did an about face, beginning to rush back in the path they'd just taken. They were on the upraised part of the street, which blocked him from seeing beyond it. Hunter held his arm back, retarding him from moving forward.
"Wait for it…" she cautioned.
The man in the red came towards him, still yelling.
"What is he saying?" asked Hunter. Cliff strained to hear him. He focused his eyes on his lips, trying to read the words that formed on them.
Go back.
Go back.
Hunter snapped towards him, her eyes growing wide with terror. She tried the words on her lips. "Go back?"
Angel screamed, as loud sirens pierced through the air. The sound waves pounded on his ears.
"Cliff," Hunter's voice sounded alien. "Look ahead."
At first, it appeared that people were jumping through the air. But as they came into focus, he could see that those "people" were gargoyles.
But not just one or two or three. Dozens of them scrambled across the cars.
Angel's screams sliced through Cliff's skull. His eyes locked on the dancing figures, waltzing with the people, then tearing their bodies apart with their long claws.
He couldn't look away.
He slowly backed up as Hunter pulled his arm, before whipping around. He followed her through the small narrow space between two cars and a truck.
"Hunter!" he shouted over the sirens. "There's nowhere to go!"
She faced him. Thick tears forged their way down her face.  "There has to be a way!"
He looked around for an escape route. All there was for as far as he could see were cars. Some even empty.
Empty cars.
Cliff turned around to the car on his right side, pulling at the handles. It remained shut. He swiveled to his left, trying the handle on a rusty station wagon. It was locked.
A man slid across the roof of the car next to him. Cliff briefly looked over his shoulder. The gargoyles were just thirty yards away.
"Try opening the other cars!" Cliff shouted, weaving through them. Angel's weight bounced in his hand.
"Please open the door!" Hunter banged her palms on the glass of an occupied minivan.
Cliff pulled on the doors of two trucks, six minivans and a car. The gargoyles were less than twenty yards away.
The door to a black pick up truck opened. A pale faced teenager scurried out of it, screaming wildly.
Hunter turned towards him, an expression of hope on her face. "I don't think he locked it."

In unison, they both ran towards the vehicle. Cliff flung open the door, holding his hand out. Hunter hoisted herself onto the vinyl seats, shutting the door behind her.
Cliff's heart leapt, as he looked at the speed of the gargoyles. He could see the fluid dripping from their skin.
