Kiss Me Twice: Book Blitz and Giveaway!!!!!

Can three people have a happy ever after in a world that runs two by two?

After two years of hiding, Adele Cavanaugh has finally found happiness with her first love, serious law student Malachi Hunter… and with sexy Australian rocker Dorian Marshall, the lead singer of the band Three Little Words.
But the universe doesn’t seem to want Adele to be happy. Just when she thinks she can finally be free, the demons from her past make a devastating reappearance… and so does Malachi’s ex-girlfriend. Combined with an opportunity for the band that will take Dorian away from her, Adele wonders if she has been fooling herself all along.
Will Adele find the strength to let love win, even when it comes in a non-traditional form?
The third book in the Three Little Words series, Kiss Me Twice is a steamy New Adult romance that explores the love between two men who would rather share their woman than let her go. Two years ago Adele’s world fell to pieces… this books asks if she’s strong enough to put herself back together again.

She was back.
I leaned back in the uncomfortable library chair in what I hoped was a casual manner. I stretched, something I actually needed to do after five hours hunched over my textbooks, but I was really just using the movement as an excuse to stare.
An excuse to stare at her.
After weeks of studying her in quick looks and hidden glances, there shouldn’t have been anything new to see, yet I found my gaze dragged to her anyway.
Her hair was long, a riot of silky waves that made my fingers itch to touch. Those waves were so red that they couldn’t have been natural, but it still suited her.
In contrast, her skin was pale, a creamy white that looked like it never saw the sun. Lots of it was visible, since she wore tight, low slung jeans and some skimpy little top with straps no wider than a piece of spaghetti. Yep, wide expanses of skin open to my hungry eyes.
Even more than the skin, I was fascinated by the ink that was etched onto it.
Brightly colored flowers sleeved her arms. I didn’t have a clue what kinds they were, but I knew that they suited her.
I wanted to run my fingers over them, to trace the brilliant, gem colored petals and stems. It was an urge that didn’t sit comfortably. No matter how hot she was, girls with tattoos weren’t my type.
I’d had ‘my type’ carved out for me since birth.
Tugging my stare away, I looked back at my textbook. The black print and yellow highlighter swam in front of my eyes. I blinked once, hard, and snuck another quick glance at her.
This time she was looking back. The expression on her face, in those insanely blue eyes was slightly mocking, daring me to say something, or even to just smile.
A jolt rocketed through me as I felt myself pulled into the intensity of that stare. I tried to open my mouth, to say something, but the words stuck in my throat.
Finally I tore my stare away, mortified. I felt my cheeks flush, not such a manly look for a dude.
I seriously had to get this… obsession, or whatever it was… under control, or I was going to have to find a new place to study.

BTW I think I'm going to be reviewing this book so...stay tuned!
I mean, was that excerpt awesome or what?

Amazon Buy Link

Blurb:

They say there are five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.

Not everyone will grieve in this order, nor will everyone go through every stage. It’s during the stage of denial when Alex Hart meets Andrew Foster. He takes her one-step closer to acceptance: the stage when new, meaningful relationships are formed. The stage when the realization occurs that this is now the new state of normal.

Just when Alex thinks she is on her way to healing, she enters the bargaining phase. That’s the phase where you wonder what you could have done differently. You wonder “what if?” Specifically, what if the ones you loved hadn’t left you?

Leaving…this is what makes heading off to war so difficult and frightening for Alex. She knows all too well what it’s like to be the one on the losing end of life, which is why she’s made it her personal mission in life to save as many lives as possible. The extreme high she gets from treating trauma victims turns into Alex’s own form of therapy, or so she thinks.

When faced with her world being turned upside down, Alex may just find that her true therapy is in the one who has always saved her.

Book Spotlight: Fearsome

Raved for by its excellent plot, character development, and subject matter, Fearsome by S.A. Wolfe is here for a special spotlight on the Serial Reader!

Jessica Channing’s big city life should be more exciting than sixty-hour work weeks and popcorn nights with her girlfriends, but it’s not. She has worked hard fulfilling her role as a child prodigy and graduating college years before her peers. She’s the good girl, the brilliant girl.
Unfortunately, she’s also the dateless young woman.
That all changes with one phone call. Jess’s rigid, predictable life upends when she must visit a small, obscure town to deal with a relative’s death. This isn’t just any little speck of a town, though. Long lost memories come crashing down on Jess’s world when two men, the Blackard brothers, seem to lure her in.
Dylan is cover model handsome, and pursues Jess the minute she comes to town. Then there is tall, dark and gorgeous Carson, who hides his own secrets behind his hardened reserve.
For someone who has been governed by her own obsessive behaviors and fears, Jess lets her guard down and jumps at the opportunity to have an affair with a man she actually finds attractive for a change.\
There’s just one problem. Jess discovers that she can’t have a simple romantic fling because true passion does indeed come with some very big strings attached to it. She will have to own up to her own truths about love and face the two extraordinary men; both troubled in their own ways and both determined to have her.

Carson takes a couple long strides and is in my face before I can count to one. He has to lean over to be at my eye level. He places his hands on the counter on either side of me so I’m trapped. “He thinks you’re going to stay here for good. He thinks he has a chance with you. I want you to be honest with him and explain that you’ll be going back to your real life in New York.”
He moves so close to my face, I find myself staring back into his beautiful eyes that never leave mine. He is nothing like Dylan; I can see that in this moment. Carson is only three years older than his brother; however, he might as well be twenty years older. He carries a weight—a burden in him—that is marked by a serious, unwavering demeanor. I think a part of me remembers this about him and another part of me remembers trying to coax the fun side out of him. I know I have seen him laugh, the memory is there, buried with all the other fuzzy images, yet right now, I only see a man who is trying to look strong because there’s something that worries him.
If he’s trying to be intimidating and rouse my anxiety, it’s working. After a short stare-off between us, he moves back. My small victory is that he seems to be at a loss for words, too.

S.A. Wolfe

S. A. Wolfe lives with her wonderfully loud, opinionated children and husband. She is a voracious reader and passionate about writing, and when those two activities don’t keep her locked away in her room, she loves hiking mountains as much as she adores all the thrills New York City has to offer.

About Rick Chiantaretto

1005771_573547986029946_976679398_n

I've often been accused of having done more in my life than the average 30 year old, but if I were completely honest I'd have to tell you my secret: I'm really 392.
So after all this time, I'm a pretty crappy writer.
I have one book published but out of print, one coming out soon, and a bunch half written (when you have eternity, where's the reason to rush?). I've been favorably reviewed by horror greats like Nancy Kilpatrick, and my how-to-write-horror articles have been quoted in scholarly (aka community college freshmen's) papers. I enjoy the occasional Bloody Mary, although a Bloody Kathy or Susan will suffice.
Mostly, I just try to keep a low profile so people don't figure out who I REALLY am.

Seventeen-year-old Mitzi and Deuce can recall how many drops of water were on a leaf from a rainstorm five years ago and conversations from last week, month, or year. They have the ability to remember every second of everyday—since birth.

This gift has blessed Mitzi with a history of being sexually assaulted by researchers and abused by her own parents. She trusts no one. Likes no one. Deuce, however, is a high school standout. His gift has made him a superstar on the football field and his memory promises him endless opportunities.

When they both end up at an Alzheimer’s research facility under false proviso, they quickly realize this place isn’t what it seems to be. They endure crazy military-style tests, are forcefully drugged, and complete real-life simulations that haunt them.

Mitzi and Deuce have no idea what the researchers want to do with them or their memories. But one thing is clear: the researchers will go to any lengths to get what they want.

I'll totally be stalking this book when it releases!

Unfortunately Derek is not who he seems, but something else straight out of her darkest nightmares. As their unlikely relationship blooms into a passionate bond, forces are determined to tear them apart and there’s more to fear than a broken heart when lives are on the line. Alyssa must ask herself what she is willing to do for love.

“Hey, look who’s here.” Jane’s enthusiasm made her giddy. I glanced over and noticed two guys from campus we’d recently met, Craig and Danny. They were brothers and it showed because they both had the same jet black hair and were similar in height and muscular build. Craig and Danny were playing pool with a couple of friends.  Craig spied us and flashed a cute smile our way.
“Hey, did I tell you that Craig called me?” Jane gawked at them openly as she twisted a blonde lock of hair.
“I guess it slipped your mind. Did you know they were going to be here tonight?” I teased.
A sheepish grin spread across her face. “Yeah, Craig said they’d be here tonight. Actually, I’ve spoken to him a few times. He’s really nice. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about him calling before, but I thought you wouldn’t be interested. I figured it was the last thing you’d want to hear about with everything you’ve been through lately.”
“You should have told me. There’s no reason for you not to…I don’t mind.”
“Let’s go talk to them,” she urged.  As we approached, their eyes roamed all over us and I felt like a piece of meat at the butcher's.
“Hey, guys!”
“Hey. It’s good to see you. Damn, you girls are the finest things in here,” Craig mused.
“No doubt,” Danny chimed in. The two other guys playing pool with them took notice and walked over. They were both from the big, dark, and muscular variety—whoa!  One stood a little taller than the rest. I glanced at him briefly, trying not to make my observation obvious. I couldn’t help but notice how handsome he was.
I think Jane couldn’t stop smiling at them even if she wanted to. Her favorite type of attention was full-on admiration.
“Stop drooling, Craig, and introduce us,” insisted the one with dark brown wavy hair and blue eyes.
Craig glanced at us, appearing a little embarrassed, and flashed a scowl at his friend. When he introduced us, the way he said our names sounded exotic and I felt a little self-conscious.
“This ugly guy next to me is Jack Fallon.” He nudged Jack hard on the shoulder. Jack winked at us. I imagine he did well with the ladies because he was anything but ugly. Craig straightened up and stopped acting silly to introduced his next friend. “And he’s Derek Rendall.”  Derek took one step forward and smiled warmly. I noticed his deep green eyes as the light caught them. His dark brown hair and strong jawline complemented his masculine features.  Be still my heart.
“Nice to meet you,” I stammered and felt stupid. What’s wrong with me?
“Same,” Jane said mischievously.
I tried not to laugh at Jane’s enthusiasm, but I couldn’t blame her.  These guys were handsome and the one named Derek…well, he was flat out gorgeous.  I was glad no one here was a mind reader and hoped that my body language wasn’t giving too much away.  I’m by no means a tramp, but I had to admit these guys were hot. They must have spent a little extra time swimming in the handsome end of the DNA pool.

Book Blitz: Shadow of the Wolf!

Shadow of the Wolf - PROMO Blitz
S.M. Pace
Young Adult Fantasy
Date Published: 11/28/12

Toby has always felt like an outcast in his village, but he thought winning a game at the Summer Fair was the answer to making friends. The local boys disagreed and literally threw Toby to the wolves. Stranded in enemy territory with a broken leg, he’s offered two options by the resident werewolves; death or permanent exile from his race.

Although Toby longs to return to his family, he chooses to live. But the werewolf children torment him just like the boys and girls back home. When he fights back and discovers he can wield magic, a crime in his old kingdom, he realizes he’s safer with the werewolves than he ever was amongst his own kind. He even finds happiness and acceptance, until his real sister contacts him with her own forbidden magic.

Fearing for her safety, Toby must decide where his loyalties lie; with the family he grew up with or the werewolves who took him in when his own people discarded him?

It seemed impossible.  Noah Cham, apologizing and offering to be friends.  Toby hesitated, his mind unable to grasp such a rapid change.  Too good to be true.
He shoved the caustic thought away and stuck out his hand.  "Sounds good to me."
The corner of Noah's mouth twitched and he stared at Toby's hand for a second before accepting the handshake with an easy grip.
"Good game earlier," Toby added.
Noah flinched a little, his smile wavering then snapping back into place.  “Definitely an interesting game.”  He shared a glance with his friends and lifted the bat he held.  “We're headed out to the perimeter, to hit a few rocks.  You want to come?”
Toby thought about it for less than a blink.  “Sure.”
The other three started toward the road, but before Toby took three steps a hand clamped on his wrist, yanking him back.
Ora glared at him, eyes fierce.  “What do you think you’re doing?”
Toby tugged his arm out of her grip.  “Making friends.  You should try it, just once.  You’re too paranoid."
Her eyes darkened, flicking to Noah, who had stopped to watch them.  “Paranoid or not, I’m no fool.  He’s planning something.”
For a moment, just one small moment, looking into her eyes, doubt crushed Toby.  The knowledge that he was being foolish.  He knew Noah would never change so easily.
He shrugged the weight off.  “Probably.  But I can handle it.  Tell Mama I’ll be home for supper.”
Ora reached for his hand again.  He slipped away and left her clutching at air, staring at him with that Ora look, like she thought she’d never see him again.  The weight crept back, but Toby shoved it away.  He wanted friends.  Someone besides his sister and little brother to do things with; even stupid things.

BLOG TOUR! Not Pretty Enough by Jaimie Admans Spotlight, Excerpt, and Giveaway!!!!

Hello, Serial Readers! Today I am more than excited to bring you the blog tour for Not Pretty Enough by Jaimie Admans! Yay!

Check out the other tour stops HERE!

Title: Not Pretty Enough
Author: Jaimie Admans
Date of Publication: August 1, 2013
Genre: contemporary YA comedy

“New Year’s Resolutions:
1. Lloyd Layton will know I exist. He once said three whole words to me, so this is obviously progress. If I don’t get a proper conversation out of him soon, then I’ll take my top off and streak through the cafeteria, because nobody could fail to notice these boobs.
2. I will not get expelled for streaking through the cafeteria.”
Those are the words that begin her mission.
Chessie is fourteen, not pretty enough, and very much in love. Lloyd Layton is hot, popular, and unaware of Chessie’s existence.
Her goal is clear: to get Lloyd to love her as much as she loves him, and she has exactly one year to do it.
As Chessie’s obsession with Lloyd reaches boiling point and she starts to spin a web of lies that spiral out of control, Lloyd turns out to be not quite the prince she thought he was. Can Chessie avoid the gathering storm before things go too far?

-- -- -- -- --
Not Pretty Enough is a contemporary young adult comedy suitable for ages thirteen and over.

Book two in the series will be released early 2014.

Unfortunately I couldn't finish the book in time for the tour, but I am super excited ( okay, how many times will I say super excited in this post?) to read it. You guys can expect a review within the next two days!

Lloyd doesn’t even acknowledge our presence. He’s having a conversation with Darren about car racing, which doesn’t sound very interesting to me. At least Ewan talks to us. I’m not really paying attention to him, because Lloyd is like three feet away from me, but he’s talking to Debs so I nod occasionally and try to look like I’m involved in the conversation too.
Lloyd doesn’t even look up in the next ten minutes. He’s debating intensely with Darren about race car drivers. He hasn’t even seen my new hair yet.
Eventually the buzzer rings, and one of the lads steps aside to let us girls run out first, which is very considerate of him. I shout a thank you back as I put my head down and step out. I don’t have a hood on this stupid jacket, and I didn’t bring an umbrella today.
I’m rushing in the direction of our form room with my head down so low to try and stop my hair frizzing out that I can’t see where I’m going, and I only get a few steps before I run smack bang into someone.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry,” I say. I hear laughter burst out from the archway behind us. What could they possibly be laughing at now?
“I’m really sorry,” I say again to the person I ran into. My head is throbbing so I must’ve hurt him as well. “Are you okay?” I ask, looking up.
And then I realise why they’re laughing at me. It’s not so much of a someone that I ran in to. More of a something.
I am currently apologising to a lamppost.
Oh God. Why me?
I have ten minutes to not make a fool of myself, and what do I do? I run into a lamppost and apologise to it. I have to be the world’s biggest klutz.
I slink away, looking where I’m going now – stuff the hair, let it frizz. I’m sure frizzy hair is less embarrassing than having a chat with a lamppost.
“You don’t have to try so hard, you know,” Debs says when we get to class.
“But I do,” I moan. “Especially now he’s just seen me do that.”
“God, I wish you’d just tell him you like him and put yourself out of this misery.”
“I can’t. He’ll just say thanks but no thanks, and I don’t want to hear that. I know that Lloyd doesn’t like me, but I want to make it so he does like me before I say anything to him.”
“Chessie…”
“I just want him to know I exist.”
“Oh, I think he knows you exist by now,” Debs says.
“I want him to acknowledge me then. Lloyd has barely even looked at me since day one, so how is he ever going to like me or know that I like him if I can’t even get him to look at me?”
“Chess…”
“Forget it. I think he and I would get on really well, if only we had a chance. I don’t want to be rejected by him.”
“You don’t know he’s going to reject you.”
“He doesn’t even know my name. Of course he’s going to reject me. I’m not pretty, or clever, or rich, or anything else that might possibly attract him to a girl. I’m just plain old Chessie Clemenfield, and he’s never going to pay any attention to me unless I make him.”

*****

Well that was interesting, wasn't it?

Book Spotlight and Giveaway: Nantucket Blue

Hello again. I was as super excited to review Nantucket Blue for you guys( I mentioned it in my 'Coming Attractions' blog post.), but unfortunately, technical difficulties halted me from doing that, this week. Luckily I'll be able to review it NEXT week for you guys! But for now, a little book spotlight, and a super awesome giveaway!

Nantucket Blue

For Cricket Thompson, a summer like this one will change everything. A summer spent on Nantucket with her best friend, Jules Clayton, and the indomitable Clayton family. A summer when she’ll make the almost unattainable Jay Logan hers. A summer to surpass all dreams.

Some of this turns out to be true. Some of it doesn’t.
When Jules and her family suffer a devastating tragedy that forces the girls apart, Jules becomes a stranger whom Cricket wonders whether she ever really knew. And instead of lying on the beach working on her caramel-colored tan, Cricket is making beds and cleaning bathrooms to support herself in paradise for the summer.
But it’s the things Cricket hadn’t counted on--most of all, falling hard for someone who should be completely off-limits--that turn her dreams into an exhilarating, bittersweet reality.
A beautiful future is within her grasp, and Cricket must find the grace to embrace it. If she does, her life could be the perfect shade of Nantucket Blue.

Excerpt

"Come on." Zack took the bag with the champagne and jumped out of the boat and pulled it almost all the way to shore.
"Is this public?" I asked as I took off my flats and hopped out. The water was ankle-deep and surprisingly warm.
"No," he said, dragging the little boat up onto the beach.
"But I've always thought this little beach would be the best spot to see the fireworks."
"So, this is someone's private land?"
"Yeah, but she won't bother us. She's just some super old lady who barely comes out of her house. She's a famous miser and she has the best view on the island. She should want to share it."
"So, are we like, trespassing?"
"Yes, but whose land really is it?"
"Ah, hers?"
Zack spread out a blanket, secured it with four rocks.
"Wrong. It belongs to the children of tomorrow. And they don't mind that we're here. Now, let's open that bub!"
"Who's down there?" said an old voice.
"Oh, shit," Zack said, our eyes locking.
"Who's on my property?" said the voice.
"Uh, just a couple of friendly youths," Zack said, shoving the blanket in the bag. I took off my shoes again and stuck them in there.
"We're really sorry," I said. We ran to the shore and pushed the boat in the water. Above us the sky was in gold and silver hysterics. The old lady searched for us with a high-powered flashlight.
"You're trespassing and it's against the law!" She made it halfway down the stairs, shining the light right on us. For a super old lady, she sure was quick. The boat scraped the sand until it was deep enough to float. The bottom of my shorts were now soaked. Zack hoisted me by the waist and I hopped in. He followed, the boat wobbling. I scrambled to the seat in the stern, pulling my wet shorts away from my body. Zack bit his lip as he fumbled with the oarlocks.
He lifted an oar while I guided it into place. Zack rowed us quickly away, out to sea, both of us cracking up.
"Youths?" I asked.
"It's what we are," he said, and then shouted, "Happy Fourth of July!" The old lady said something in response, but we couldn't understand. Above us the fireworks were in a riot. Little rockets of light shot upward and popped open, full of sequins.
"Look," I said as the explosions quick-fired, getting bigger and more dramatic. "The grand finale."
"The Fourth of July, aboard La Principessa!" Zack added in an Italian accent.
"Oh! Champagne!" I said and clapped my hands.
"Yeah, get it."
I unwrapped the gold paper and tried to pull off the wire cage over the top of the bottle, but couldn't figure it out.
"Here," Zack handed me the oars. His knees were outside mine. Our legs touched, his knees squeezing mine. He untwisted the wire and popped the bottle. The cork flew into the water and champagne spilled over the top of his fingers and all over my lap.
"Sorry," he said and tried to wipe it off with the bottom of his T-shirt. We were both laughing. The bubbles were cool and tingly on my thighs.
"I'm totally soaked!" I said. I looked up; he was so close.
Our cheeks touched.
"You are just..." he said into my ear. My eyes closed, eyelashes like matches striking my cheeks, setting them on fire. He kissed me, long and sweet, on the mouth.
"Just what?" I asked when we came up for air, stunned, heart stomping like a parade, wrists aching from holding the oars.
He seemed unable to finish his sentence with words.
He pulled the wet oars inside the boat, wrapped his arms around me, and kissed me again. He gripped my waist. His fingers slipped down the back of my shorts.
"She'll kill me," I said, pulling away. "Literally."
"She'll kill me twice," he said, and pulled me closer.
"That's impossible," I said.
"Not if I turned into a zombie."
"Zack." I removed his hands and placed them on his own knees. I put my hands behind my back and took three deep breaths. "It can't happen again."
"Okay," he said. A warm wind twisted my hair. The boat drifted and his hands did, too, back to my legs, up my arms and neck. We kissed. We drifted and kissed and drifted and kissed as the sky flashed and clapped and bloomed and broke.

About the Author

LEILA  OWLAND loves to read, explore L.A., and engage in funny and meaningful conversations with her friends and family, especially her brother who calls from Washington D.C. whenever he’s waiting for the bus. A lot gets discussed in those phone calls, but they tend to end abruptly when the bus shows up. She can really cut the rug, but wishes she could sing without people covering their ears. A graduate of Georgetown University, Leila spent five years acting in New York where she was a company member of the award-winning Flea Theater in Tribeca. It was a lot of fun and she often talks about “getting back into it.” The closest she has come was a stint as an extra on The Young and the Restless in 2010. Leila now lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two dogs. She teaches high school English and blogs for HelloGiggles. NANTUCKET BLUE is her first novel.
